With the shelter services contracts coming up for renewal next week, No Kill Las Vegas (NKLV) is excited to announce that we have voted to bid on the contract for the City of Las Vegas and Clark County says NKLV President Bryce Henderson.
“The people of Las Vegas are through with our shelter being run by a deceptive, incompetent organization that is more interested in saving money than saving animals. We plan on taking back our shelter and making Las Vegas a safe place for homeless pets.” Henderson tells 2 Urban Girls.
Background
We (NKLV) have already been in talks with a developer, who is ready to build a custom shelter, if needed, using the funds that have already been put aside by the County. We have also secured a commitment for a Director of Operations who has 12 years of animal management experience, 2 of which were at The Animal Foundation. In addition, we are on a nationwide search for an Executive Director.
Our next step is making sure the RFP (Request for Proposal) is approved by the County Commissioners and that City Council votes down the renewal of the Animal Foundation’s 20-year contract.
We would not be taking this step if it were not for the overwhelming support and encouragement we have received from the community. It is because of this support that we know we will be successful in securing the contracts, which will put us on the new path towards making Las Vegas a No Kill city.
We will be attending the meetings on Tuesday and Wednesday where we are expecting a large crowd of supporters.
If you live in Las Vegas and are a supporter of animals, please plan on attending the meetings today and tomorrow. Bryce will keep us posted as the item/discussion progresses. Good luck from your friends in Cali!
