The unions should try this approach to healthcare benefits

imagesAs the rising cost of healthcare costs becomes a key concern of employers, one private employer is attempting to restructure how they provide benefits for their employees spouses by simply not providing them if they already have benefits from their employer.

In both the City of Inglewood and Inglewood Unified School District, employees enjoy the comfort of having their entire family covered, on the cities dime.  For a lifetime.

Historically, politicians were elected by the powerful unions.  That union stronghold is showing cracks in the crushing defeat of Wendy Greuel for mayor of Los Angeles and the subsequent union negotiations between Mayor Eric Garcetti and the LADWP employee unions.  We have still not heard a peep from IBEW union leader Brian d’Arcy on the contract nor do we know if the members ratified through voting.
