ICEF Public Schools Announces Plans to Build $19.8 Million State-of-the-Art Campus in South L.A.

ICEF has announced receiving a grant from the California School Finance Authority totaling $19.8 million dollars.  This will allow the contstruction of a new 54,000 square-foot campus to house View Park Preparatory Elementary and Middle schools.   ICEF expects to move into the new school during the 2015-16 school year.

Tonight the Lennox School District board of trustees will reconvene and discuss issues surrounding the Lennox Math, Science and Technology Academy.  You will recall, the schools principal, Armando Mena, says he was forced to allow LSD trustee Mercedes Ibarra’s daughter to walk for graduation, despite be academically ineligible.

Centinela Valley high school district to charter schools for LA County inmates

The Centinela Valley Union High School District, serving Hawthorne, Lennox and Lawndale, is opening two charter schools that will cater to adults — one for inmates of the Los Angeles County jail system and the other for people who have dropped out of high school.

Why would an oil company plan to invest in charter schools that are in locations rich in mineral rights?  Why are they investing in Inglewood charter schools and not the Inglewood Unified School District?  Could energy companies be behind the massive influx of charters in Inglewood?
