State Superintendent of Public Instruction to meet with Inglewood Unified Teachers

The California State Superintendent of Public Instruction has agreed to meet with Inglewood Teachers Association (ITA) to discuss his committment to Inglewood Unified School District (IUSD).  IUSD insiders say the teachers association was behind the move to speed up the state takeover of the district.  ITA organizer Doug Mirk, sent the following out today:

Dear Site Reps and Concerned ITA activists:

On Friday, January 16, at 2:00, ITA leaders will be meeting with state superintendent of public instruction Tom Torlakson at the CTA office in Culver City.  Tom is technically our superintendent as well (due to the state takeover), and we want to voice concerns that we have heard from members across the district.  Unfortunately, he is only giving us a short meeting Friday on his way to his Southern California inauguration as State Superintendent for this term.  He needs to come back to Inglewood, visit the schools, and address the problems in his (and our) district.

In solidarity,

Doug Mirk

ITA organizing chair

Now where is this secret meeting taking place?
