Political Shenanigans: 2017 Compton Elections

ComptonCityHallx720_2Compton- Is the City Clerk preparing to intercept the people’s choices for city council?  The December 6 Compton city council agenda includes a request from Alita Godwin, the current city clerk, to conduct an all mail election in April.  That’s right.  The city wants to only accept mailed in ballots for mayor, city attorney, treasurer and council.  Where is Betty Pleasant when you need her.

As the mayor and council grapple with the continued displeasure of the residents, it appears that there is an air of desperation of the Black establishment currently housed on the Compton dais.

Mayor Aja Brown is set to attend a campaign fundraiser, sponsored by marijuana lobbyists and hosted by LA County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas on December 14, who at one time wanted to tax marijuana to help the homeless.  MRT doesn’t believe in taxing the marijuana industry on their gross receipts as most business are.  Wonder why??  2 Urban Girls has confirmed from city of Lynwood insiders, that all council members have been served with recall papers, directly related to their proposed marijuana cultivation ordinance.

Perhaps newly elected Congresswoman Nanette Barragan will weigh in on the possible disenfranchisement of the voting populous.

Word on the street is former Congressional candidate Marcus Musante is gearing up to run for city attorney.  Craig Cornwell has responded by updating his social media more frequently and posting pics of him getting his “wig” done aka a hair cut.  This author can’t make this up.

The city clerk’s office continues to go out of there way to not respond to public records request.  This author has sent multiple requests to staffer Vernell McDaniel who continues to block requests.

How hard is it to provide the current mayor and councils pay along with a check warrant register of all checks written out of the city managers office, that NEVER make the city council agenda?

Clearly, the recent ouster of Isadore Hall has the black political establishment in Compton shook.  GOOD!
