Inglewood’s downtown corridor is thriving.  With the reopening of the Miracle Theater on South Market St., the community is turning out in droves to support its return.  Owner Owen Smith has hosted a number of events that have attracted both local and national audiences.  Issa Rae and  HBO held the Season 2 premiere of Insecure at the theatre, Ice-T and Red Bull have graced the stage and the Inglewood Theater and Dancers 4 Life Dance Groups have also utilized this wonderful space.

The nonprofit arm of the theater, the Miracle Theater Foundation, recently held their inaugural benefit concert featuring artists:  Tom Freund & Friends, Mai Bloomfield, Carlos Calvo, Adwin Brown and Dorian Holley.

2UrbanGirls reached out to Owen and asked how it feels to be a part of the Inglewood Renaissance?

“It almost feels rhetorical … we are so happy to be in Inglewood. The community is hip, diverse and energized. We are having so much fun!” said Owen.  “Mariana and I are also very happy to play a role in the revitalization of Market Street. It’s wonderful to see more mojo on Market.  As The Miracle Theater welcomes artists to Inglewood, it is important to us to continue hosting community-engaged programming through local organizations and entertainment groups.”

After such an amazing 2017, we asked what productions can we look forward to seeing in 2018?

“We are currently putting together the 2018 calendar. Highlights include a conversation with Bootsy Collins, a musical performance by Parlor Social and more community programming with White Hall Arts Academy and Wilder’s Preparatory Academy.”
