LADWP tightens up its “sick” day policy

DWP General Manager Ron Nichols created a new sick day policy requiring documented proof for any employee out more than two consecutive days.  Not bad to have a policy that cuts down on sick day abuse.  LA Times reported DWP paid out $35.5 million for 103,802 extra sick days, which were beyond the agency’s nominal 10-day-a-year cap on sick days.

Don’t cry for LADWP employees, based on this LA Times investigation, employee’s make close to $100k annually, each.
