KDAY Ratings Continue to Slide

KDAYLogoContactsAfter losing a bidding war to bring Big Boy to 93.5 KDAY, it is evident its ratings are on a steady decline and has Meruelo Media executives scratching their heads.  With a stronghold on the lucrative growing Latino listeners, the “urban” radio station has fallen behind KRRL (Real 92.3), KJLH (102.3) and are also behind USC ran KUSC, over the last three months.  How do they aim to gain more listeners?  They want to pay you to listen.

KDAY has come up with a Wednesday promotion that pays listeners $93 dollars if they catch the station playing a non “West Coast” artist.

Meruelo Media President and COO Otto Padron was happy to acquire the station for its strong community presence but ratings validate the urban community isn’t tuning in.

Padron is also an appointee of City of Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti to the LA Convention Center serving as commissioner.

Do you recall Mayor Eric being a guest on the shows Sunday Community Show at 6am?  I can’t.

Ratings will be updated next week.
