Jan Perry named interim GM to City of LA Economic Development Department

New City of Los Angeles Mayor, Eric Garcetti, announced that Jan Perry was selected as interim General Manager of the Economic Development Department (EDD).  Perry was a wise choice for several reasons.

She has a long standing relationship with AEG and USC and has made great improvements to Downtown LA that translates into much needed tax dollars.

AEG is poised to bring the NFL back to LA and USC is slated to begin revitalizing the crumbing strip mall along Jefferson Blvd.  Perry has played a major role in getting these projects up and running and to have her continue to build on those relationships is much needed.

As we see many new faces occupying the city council dais around the LA/South Bay area, it is vital to the community they represent, to further leverage relationships that will translate into achieving a greater occupancy rate of commercial/retail space.  Newly electeds have vast experience in economic development, lets just hope it translates into finished, thriving projects.

The question is will Perry be interim just long enough to get projects shovel ready, or interim as in they are still looking to fill the position?
