IUSD Decade of Decline: In Summation

IUSD2UrbanGirls has given a detailed retrospective regurgitating allegations aimed at the Inglewood Unified School District (IUSD) advisory board members over the past several years.  2UrbanGirls has also examined the Measure K Bond Oversight Committee, who by the way is meeting next Monday at 5:30pm, on how Inglewood‘s taxpayers dollars were wasted and abused.

Last night IUSD interim state administrator LaTanya Kirk-Carter held a board meeting where she layed off campus supervisors/security and bus drivers.  She also went into an agreement for Inglewood PD to assume the duties as the chief of school police, effectively ensuring the permanent removal of the former chief Carter.

How could this be?  Well, when you have a school board that failed to implement policies to keep order and decorum throughout the district you are reminded of this famous quote “what’s done in the dark will surely come to light“.  The board failed to create and enforce policies to keep standards in the school district above the board.  Instead, they failed to do that which placed our children in jeopardy.  How is that?   Let’s look at the moves that has transpired thus far.

When you have a Personnel Commission/Personnel Office that has no clear policy from the board  or from the Commission themselves on:

1. disciplining employees who obtain felonies away from work and then return to work, that’s a problem

2. when you have personnel getting high with students and you turn a blind eye, that’s a problem

3. when you have teachers allegedly attacking students and not being reprimanded, that’s a problem

4. when you promote unqualified people to do work they shouldn’t be doing, that’s a problem

5. reprimanding teachers for excessive absences, that’s a problem.  the district is quick to notify you that your child is truant and threaten parents with jail, well what about the teachers who are allowed to be “stressed” and “sick” all year?  If you want that luxury, go work for PacBell/AT&T there employees run that game all the time.  Difference is our kids future isn’t affected by their lack of not showing up to work.

The board should have implemented better controls to have some sort of monitoring system or process where employees are annually fingerprinted to ensure they aren’t committing felonious acts which places our kids in danger.  No one thought to do that?  A former board member and now Personnel Commissioner didn’t think it was wise to address this issue of fact checking her personnel who is allowed full access to children?  Did the school police chief think that is necessary considering schools are known to have child molesters working amongst the kids?  If the school police know the personnel gets high with the students and they are still employed there I would be second guessing the chiefs ability as well.

When you have a board that doesn’t implement policies to have staff apply for funding to enhance schools that is idiotic.  You mean staff was able to apply for a SIG grant which kept kids in school until 4pm but couldn’t get funds for increasing access to technology?  Montebello USD just bought laptops for their students and LAUSD announced $30 million for iPads for the students.  What does Inglewood kids get, not a damn thing.

Our interim state administrator is supposed to be the “numbers” person, yet when we sat at the FCMAT presentation no numbers were given on how to get the district back on track.  What amount of students wuold be needed to remain solvent was NEVER discussed.  No talk about what the $29 million additional dollars were spent on.

Furthermore, she continues to disrespect the Inglewood community by allowing the advisory board to remain on the dais and speaking to us as if they are still in charge.  Their tired asses should be in the audience with us.  A couple of them were in attendance last night, not the two new ones, but the gruesome twosome.  They are so outraged and mad about what’s going on.  Those two can kiss ass.  We still need to take a field trip to his church and see just how many parishioners are supporting his extravagant empire of property and a $200k car.

Compton Community College is under the control of El Camino and those trustees put the advisory board in the audience.  I ran into one of them earlier this week and he complained he had to sit in the audience.  You damn skippy.

Inglewood Unified School District is in this mess because of the continuous mismanagement of funds, lack of experience and too much apathy from the parents of the current 12k population.  The same people speak regularly about the greed and mismanagement and the victory was realized when the board was ousted, by their own doing.  You see you can’t preach about how much you love the lord and what a christian you are when you are assisting in the decline of your own community.

They are on a mission to destroy the district and residents are sitting by idling watching it happen.  Where is the Measure GG Bond money going to go?  Who will sit on that Oversight Committe?  Inglewood, we have homework to do this summer and please plan on attending the board meetings during this time, this is when it goes down.  By the way, in last nights over 600 page agenda, Mrs. Kirk-Carter managed to sneak in some change orders for Payne elementary. One of the items are “items for janitors closets”.  Why do they need items for the janitors office if they just laid them all off at the VERY SAME meeting?  WHAT THE FUCK?   I will see you at the Measure K meeting where we can address that too.

I will leave you with this scripture Ms. Bell shared with me last night Psalm 37

Do not fret because of those who are evil or be envious of those who do wrong; 2 for like the grass they will soon wither, like green plants they will soon die away.

3 Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. 4 Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.

5 Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this: 6 He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun.

7 Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.

8 Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret—it leads only to evil. 9 For those who are evil will be destroyed, but those who hope in the Lord will inherit the land.

10 A little while, and the wicked will be no more; though you look for them, they will not be found. 11 But the meek will inherit the land and enjoy peace and prosperity.

12 The wicked plot against the righteous and gnash their teeth at them; 13 but the Lord laughs at the wicked, for he knows their day is coming.

14 The wicked draw the sword     and bend the bow to bring down the poor and needy, to slay those whose ways are upright. 15 But their swords will pierce their own hearts, and their bows will be broken.

16 Better the little that the righteous have than the wealth of many wicked; 17 for the power of the wicked will be broken, but the Lord upholds the righteous.

18 The blameless spend their days under the Lord’s care, and their inheritance will endure forever. 19 In times of disaster they will not wither; in days of famine they will enjoy plenty.

20 But the wicked will perish: Though the Lord’s enemies are like the flowers of the field,     they will be consumed, they will go up in smoke.

21 The wicked borrow and do not repay, but the righteous give generously; 22 those the Lord blesses will inherit the land, but those he curses will be destroyed.

23 The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him; 24 though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with his hand.

25 I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread. 26 They are always generous and lend freely; their children will be a blessing.[b]

27 Turn from evil and do good;  then you will dwell in the land forever. 28 For the Lord loves the just and will not forsake his faithful ones.

Wrongdoers will be completely destroyed[c]; the offspring of the wicked will perish. 29 The righteous will inherit the land     and dwell in it forever.

30 The mouths of the righteous utter wisdom, and their tongues speak what is just. 31 The law of their God is in their hearts; their feet do not slip.

32 The wicked lie in wait for the righteous, intent on putting them to death; 33 but the Lord will not leave them in the power of the wicked or let them be condemned when brought to trial.

34 Hope in the Lord and keep his way. He will exalt you to inherit the land; when the wicked are destroyed, you will see it.

35 I have seen a wicked and ruthless man flourishing like a luxuriant native tree, 36 but he soon passed away and was no more; though I looked for him, he could not be found.

37 Consider the blameless, observe the upright; a future awaits those who seek peace.[d] 38 But all sinners will be destroyed;  there will be no future[e] for the wicked.

39 The salvation of the righteous comes from the Lord; he is their stronghold in time of trouble. 40 The Lord helps them and delivers them; he delivers them from the wicked and saves them,     because they take refuge in him.

  1. exactly where is the Measure K Bond Oversight Committee that is meeting today at 5:30pm, to meet?

    • UrbanGirl says:

2UrbanGirls received notice that the meeting was being moved to Wednesday, June 26th and now its moved to July 1st. The committee normally meets at the IUSD district offices on the 2nd floor.

  2. PDQ says:

You said in paragraph 2: “LaTanya Kirk-Carter held a board meeting where she layed off campus supervisors/security and bus drivers.” Are janitors included in one of these groups? Because you later complained about “Mrs. Kirk-Carter managed to sneak in some change orders for Payne elementary. One of the items are “items for janitors closets”. Why do they need items for the janitors office if they just laid them all off at the VERY SAME meeting?”

Are janitors now called “campus supervisors”? I’m confused.

My guess is that all of these jobs will be farmed out to other organizations – IPD taking security, a private contractor for buses, etc. And that’s probably for the better since IUSD is so totally screwed up. If you can’t get someone to come to work then that means they don’t need or want their job – right? I wish them luck on getting a real job with their crappy attitude and work habits.

And as for the scripture: Please. Blind faith and idle chatter like that is what got the district and the city where it is today. The city and the schools need to be run by grown ups who know what they’re doing.
Amateur Hour is OVER and the posers, fakers and frauds need to be exposed and run out on a rail! If that means IUSD is vaporized, it may be the best thing that’s happened to the district in decades.

The janitor group was mistakenly omitted when listing the positions that were announced. The change order re: items for the janitors closest was inconsistent with the actions of the interim administrator. Perhaps that is an indication that the positions may be returned for school year 2013-14.

If the district is indeed “vaporized” that would make a very sad day for the Inglewood community.
