Is .@INGUSD Advisory Board Member against teachers unions

dr johnny youngBy now it is no secret that the Inglewood Unified School District (IUSD) is under the control of the CA Department of Education.  Current State Superintendent of Public Education, Tom Torlakson, is up for re-election and is running against Marshall Tuck.  Tuck was spotted at current IUSD Advisory Board Member Dr. Johnny Young‘s church today.  It appears Dr. Young has revealed his true self to the Inglewood community and IUSD teachers especially.

It is imperative to note that in the capacity of advisor, the board members have absolutely ZERO voting authority on issues related to IUSD.  Two seats are vacant and IUSD is taking applications from those interested in serving the duration of the seats terms.

Marshall Tuck tweeted out photos of him and former Ladera Heights Civic Association board member and former IUSD school board candidate, Margaret Bowers, who were both in attendance at Dr. Young’s church.

You may recall Bowers was very vocal that IUSD didn’t have to go under state control if teachers were allowed to be laid off to balance the budget.  With the Personnel Commission dismantled, there was no body to protect the classified employees, whereas, the teachers union, huge supporters of Tom Torlakson’s re-election, were safe from their pink slips being permanent.

Dr. Young was a passionate supporter of teachers while campaigning to retain his seat on the IUSD board and now his true feelings have surfaced that he only supported teachers when it suited his own interests.

One Response so far.

As a concerned voter and tax payer, do we [tax payers] want to privatize our public schools, Mr. Tuck comes from the banking industry…http://www.laprogressive.com/marshall-tuck-unqualified/
