Grant Writing Workshop headed to Inglewood Public Library

untitledLooks like the Inglewood/LAX Chamber of Commerce (COC) is heading in the right direction by providing a grant writing workshop this month, to offer technical support to the many area businesses seeking funding for their non-profit.

2UrbanGirls always wondered how the organization was utilizing the dues paid by the businesses who join looking to increase their “exposure”.  Many times a year they are hosting fundraisers and luncheons, but you never see their presence during City of Inglewood community events nor do you see their name as a sponsor for city events.  When do we see the COC advocating on behalf of the dozens of small businesses in the city?  How often do we see the COC advocating for the safety of the community in order to attract new business?  How often do we see the COC demanding a local preference when putting projects out to bid?  Are the COC concerned at all about the blight in the city which prevents businesses from recruting professionals and/or retaining their staff?

All questions to consider before you spend your hard-earned money to join an organization that does nothing but line their pockets.

Are the chambers of commerce worth joining at all?
