Female inmates in CA prisons are sterilized without consent

The Sacramento Bee reports that female inmates in California Institution for Women in Corona or Valley State Prison for Women in Chowchilla were sterilized at a cost of approx $150k between 1997 and 2010 without their consent.

When 2UrbanGirls asked world-renowned blogger SandraRose, who initially reported this on her website, if this were a violation of the prisoners civil rights, she replied, “not when you are state property”.

Women who already had multiple children were the low hanging fruit.

Moral of this story, don’t go to jail.
