The ‘Compton Turns the Tables’ concert will showcase the talent of students age 15-21 who have participated in a new grant-funded 10-week course covering essential DJ skills and business, taught by DJ Lynne Denise, a professor at Cal State Los Angeles. Due to Compton’s rich and storied place in music history, it served as the perfect place to launch the program.  The free concert will take place Saturday, May 6th at the Compton Library located at the intersection of Compton Blvd. and Willowbrook Ave.

There will be celebrity performances including hip-hop legend and actress, YoYo, R&B heartthrob Anthony Lewis, new pop artist sensation Kay Dee, and rapper Lee Laamaj.

Panelists:  Dawnn Lewis from the hit show A Different World, Tyler Perry’s music scorer, Elvin Ross, Rayan formerly from popular boy band group Mindless Behavior, and actor Mandell Frazier from If Loving You is Wrong who will give the students feedback on their performances.

Radio stations 94.7 the Wave and KJLH will also be on site broadcasting live with free giveaways, and Lon McQ from KJLH will host.
