Congratulations City Honors

SolarFoundation_Color1_LogoIn the spring of 2013, teachers had the opportunity
to deploy the Employing Solar to Teach Persuasive Writing program in their classrooms in order to enter their students’ essays into an essay contest sponsored by the Foundation.  A BIG thank you to Ofelia Lariviere for enrolling City Honors and AP English teacher Saba Araya who entered her 11th and 12th grade students.

With more than 70 classes from Oakland to San Diego submitting entries, participation in the contest was statewide.   Contest participants featured English Language Arts and STEM classes and showcased California Partnership Academy, honors, and special needs students.

Many of students attending City Honors had the opportunity to participate and receive prizes ranging from $25 to $500.  Here are the lists of students, whose essays were selected on the topic,  “Why do we want solar at our school?”
