Hertz severs business relationship with City of Los Angeles

LADOT-LogoCity of Los Angeles officials and LADOT have worked to bring carsharing to the city for the last five years.  After beginning with a pilot program with Zipcar and citing revenue estimates between $3 million and $30 million from an agreement with Hertz, it was a no brainer that LADOT selected Hertz over Zipcar in summer 2013.  That decision has come back to haunt LADOT officials who are now left wondering why Hertz stopped returning their phone calls and pulled out of the agreement.

The CarShare Directory provided a full statement from a LADOT spokesperson.

Good news is Daimler’s Car2go recently launched in the South Bay and are in talks to bring their smart cars to Angelenos.  No worries, Hertz is an equal opportunity disappointment since they also left City of Santa Monica hanging as well.
