Beurre Ami Recipe: Kelly’s Hamburger Helper

When I was a kid I was really lucky. My Mom was born and raised in New Orleans so breakfast, lunch and dinner was always a gourmet Creole meal. Gumbo, Red Beans and Rice, Jambalaya, were staple meals. I know this is where I got my love for cooking, however, I still can’t get my Okra Gumbo perfect.

Although what I did get perfect my ability to think up recipes that are good. Before we started Beurre Ami I made these butters to cook with all the time and one of the many recipes I made was my version of Hamburger Helper. You heard me right…but I call it Kelly’s Hamburger Helper and it is not for the kids. Enjoy!

You will need:

  • 1/2 Pound of Meat (I like grass fed but hey that is me)
  • 1/2 Cup of Ketchup
  • 2 Tablespoons of Balsamic Vinegar
  • 2 Tablespoons of Beurre Ami Parsley Parmesan Butter

  • 1/4 of an Yellow Onion
  • 1/2 Tablespoon of Tomato Paste
  • 3 Tablesoons of LaVictoria Medium Heat Sauce
  • Siracha to taste. (The hotter the better!)
  • Salt / Pepper to taste

Chop up the onion finely. Spray some oil in a cast iron pan (if you don’t have one – get one but a regular saute pan will do), put the onions on medium to low heat to soften. Put in the Tomato Paste to cook out the pasty taste. So after about a minute put in your meat to brown.


Once browned add ketchup, La Victoria, Balsamic Vinegar, and Beurre Ami Parsley Parmesan Butter. Cook this down for about 15 minutes then salt and pepper to taste. Now put the Siracha in…I love it hot but if you don’t like heat at least put 1/2 teaspoon to give it a back bight.
