Inglewood Mayor James Butts easily wins re-election

MAYOR BUTTSCity of Inglewood Mayor James T. Butts Jr. easily won re-election capturing over 83% of the vote.  Former Inglewood councilman, Mike Stevens, finished a distant second, receiving 9%.  The Urban Girl caught up with Mayor Butts at his campaign headquarters, to discuss the election outcome.

Campaigning on a proven record of results, it was no surprise to any of Mayor Butts supporters, that he would be re-elected.  Mayor Butts took no chances and campaigned hard to retain his seat and Inglewood residents concurred.

I am proud of the statement of affirmation of my leadership and results made by the voters. They said they overwhelmingly approve of where the Mayor and Council are taking the City of Inglewood and that they will never again be fooled by obstructionist council members masquerading as activists on the dais.

I further inquired on whether it was more rewarding to be appointed Chief of Police or to be elected by the residents, to which Mayor Butts responded, “…they came at different points of my career and I am humbled to have the honor to serve the City of Inglewood, who gave me the start of my career.”
