Down goes Water Replenishment District director Rob Katherman

rob kathermanLos Cerritos News is reporting the arrest of Rob Katherman and his wife Marilyn Katherman, in connection with the recent arrest of West Basin director Ron Smith.

Katherman and his wife are accused of two counts of misappropriating public funds.  Katherman is also deputy chief of staff in L.A. city councilman Curren Price Jr.’s office and also sits on the Water Replenishment District (WRD) board of directors.  He is also with the Katherman Companies aka Grumpy Old Men, who are consultants in government relations and community outreach.

Prosecutors said that the embezzlement scheme occurred after Smith got the West Basin Municipal Water District board to make multiple contributions to help sponsor the Adopt A Storm Drain Foundation, a nonprofit educational foundation to promote water conservation run by the Kathermans.”

“The contributions occurred over a three-year period, beginning in August 2010.
During the same period, Smith also contributed money from his district outreach fund that did not need board approval, prosecutors said.”

You may recall another Rob Katherman funded venture, Coalition for Clean Affordable Water, contributed heavily to the recent election of Isaac Galvan to the Compton city council.
