Meet the candidates for Mayor of the City of Inglewood

Inglewood city hallCity of Inglewood residents are gearing up to elect our City’s 13th mayor on the November 4th ballot. The City Clerk has provided us with a list of residents certified to campaign for the top job. However, since the election of current Mayor James T. Butts Jr., the city of Inglewood has been on a positive trajectory and continues to rise.

Residents saw the re-opening of the Fabulous Forum, after a nearly $100 million dollar renovation, and were awarded the opportunity to host the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards days ago. Inglewood has broken ground on the new Hollywood Park Tomorrow complex after the closing of the Hollywood Race Track back in December 2013.

There is speculation that a NFL team, perhaps the St. Louis Rams, will take up residence across from the Forum, after the team’s owner bought the Walmart parcel. Inglewood also made the front page of the anniversary issue of the Los Angeles Business Journal after restructuring the city employees’ unfunded pension liabilities. All of this occurred under the direction of one of our most business savvy mayors to date.

In addition to current Mayor James Butts, the following three candidates are prepared to challenge him for his seat.

Mike Stevens– is the former district one councilman and property owner in Inglewood. The last election he ran in was for the 62nd Assembly, which he failed to garner any media coverage and his campaign coffers were not well-funded by those who believed in his leadership.

Gil Mathieu– is the former President of the now defunct and scandal ridden Inglewood Neighborhood Housing Services (INHS), which brought about the demise of former mayor Roosevelt Dorn. He was also the city’s first African-American commissioner.

Sandie Crisp– who also goes by the name “Goddess Bunny” is an actress.
