Ray J Arraigned on Sexual Battery, Vandalism and Resisting Arrest

ray jLove and Hip Hop Los Angeles cast member Ray J was arraigned today on charges that include sexual battery and resisting arrest, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Deputy District Attorney Candice Jan said Ray J, whose real name is Willie Ray Norwood Jr. pleaded not guilty, through an attorney, to four misdemeanor counts in case 4WA32033: sexual battery, vandalism, battery on a police officer and resisting/delaying a peace officer.

Norwood’s next court appearance is scheduled for Aug. 28 for a pretrial hearing at the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Airport Branch in Dept. 143.

The defendant was arrested on May 30 after he allegedly groped a woman at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel bar. Norwood then refused to leave the bar, the prosecutor said. While in police custody, he reportedly broke a patrol car window and spat on an officer, the prosecutor added.

If convicted of all counts, Norwood faces a maximum sentence of four years in county jail.

The case remains under investigation by the Beverly Hills Police Department.
