Yesterday, September 3rd, Ariel Castro made headlines for being found dead at the Correctional Reception Center in Orient, Ohio.  Castro was sentenced to nearly 1,000 years for the kidnapping, rape and torture of three Cleveland area women.

The City of Compton is back in the news due to a recent upswing in violent crimes in the city.  As August came to a close, Mayor Aja Brown, LA County Sheriff Lee Baca, Compton Unified officials city activists and residents, came together to denounce crime and declare a state of emergency in the city.
