CA Dept. of Education gives State of the IUSD address

Today, May 28th, the California Department of Education held a meeting today to discuss the financial position of the Inglewood Unified School District.  The meeting was presided over by Richard Zeiger, Michelle Plumbtree of FCMAT and state interim superintendent LaTanya Kirk-Carter.

Measure R Oversight Committee Finds Compton spent funds on ineligible projects

On April 4, 2012, the Measure R Independent Taxpayers Oversight Committee of Metro, released the annual report on FY11 audits.  They found that Compton should have held $1,008,149 for transportation related projects.

Nike severs ties to Livestrong charity

Today Nike announced plans to cut ties with the Livestrong charity founded by Lance Armstrong.  Lance Armstrong was found to have been involved in using performance enhancing steroids which aided in his record-breaking Tour de France wins.

Paul Tanaka has had a storied career of public service.  He has worked for the El Segundo PD and then transferred to the LA County Sheriff’s Department.  There he rose through the ranks and became Sheriff Lee Baca’s 2nd in command.  Paul Tanaka has alluded to running against Baca in the upcoming 2014 election. 


State releases K-12 school rankings

The state on Friday released its annual list of K-12 school rankings based on student performance on standardized tests, revealing little in the way of surprise for the South Bay and Harbor Area, where nearly 60 percent of the schools surpassed the statewide average.
